What is a Naturopathic Doctor (ND)?

This is a person who has received a doctorate after training at a 4 year naturopathic medical school as a primary care provider (PCP). Depending on the state, naturopathic doctors can order labwork, diagnose disease, treat disease, and even prescribe pharmaceutical drugs if necessary. In medical school they study all of the same basic and clinical sciences that any medical doctor studies. In addition, a naturopathic doctor studies healing through natural methods, such as nutrition, botanical medicine, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, environmental medicine, detoxification, homeopathy, etc. The biggest difference is that ND’s are trained to treat the whole person and address the underlying causes that are contributing to ill health, rather than giving drugs to address the symptoms. The goal of a naturopath is to help the body return to a state of balance and optimal health.

What is a Vitalist Naturopathic Doctor (ND)?

A Vitalist Naturopathic Doctor is an ND who practices traditional Naturopathic Medicine. Vitalist ND’s believe that the body has the power to heal itself. The role of the ND is to remove any obstacles to cure and to stimulate the body’s vital force to heal the patient with the smallest amount of medicine as possible. Vitalist ND’s do not suppress symptoms, as we believe that any kind of symptom suppression drives disease deeper and take the body in the opposite direction of cure.

What conditions have been helped with Naturopathy?

Naturopaths don’t treat conditions or disease. We look at what is causing your health problems, like diet, toxic exposures, and other lifestyle factors. We then focus on eliminating this root cause in order to help the body get back into proper functioning. A side effect of bringing the body back into a healthy balance is that for many people, their symptoms often resolve and disappear. We have done health consultations on people with the following health issues:

• Digestive disorders
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Fatigue
• Chronic disease
• Insomnia
• Weak immunity
• PMS
• Menstrual cramps
• Menopausal symptoms
• Allergies
• IBS
• Addictions
• Weight loss
• Stress management

What can I expect from a visit with a Naturopathic Doctor?

While each visit is as unique as the patient, it is common to have the first visit last between 60-120 minutes. This gives us enough time to explore the underlying factors that are affecting your body. The goal of this first visit is to understand your current health challenges, history, and goals. We will help you create a personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and philosophy in order to assist you in bringing your body back into a state of balance and vitality.

Please bring any recent blood work results that can help us in determining your imbalances.

Can I seek naturopathic care and conventional care at the same time?

Yes, Naturopathy can work in conjunction with conventional medical care as it often helps improve the results and reduce the side-effects of treatments you are receiving. If you are taking medications, you will need to work with your current doctor to decrease your dosage over the course of your treatment.

Does my insurance cover Naturopathic care?

No, unfortunately, most insurance will not cover Naturopathic care. Some people may be able to be reimbursed by their insurance if they have special plans that cover alternative medicine. Please check with your carrier.

What forms of payment are accepted?

Cash, Visa/ Mastercard and Zelle are the accepted forms of payment.
